Beverly and Jim Barfield have come up with a very traditional and acoustic country gospel album with a nice mix of well known songs, eg, the opener "Turn Your Radio On", the Carter Family classic, "Keep On The Sunnyside" and "This World Is Not My Home". They have then cleverly used some of their own compositions which I think is a plus for the album as it creates a good balance of the new and the old. Beverly plays autoharp and Jim the guitar, and they are backed by fiddle, bass and banjo, giving it a bluegrass feel. It is one of those albums that grows onyou with repeated hearing. I have not heard of the Barfields before and as they are planning a tour of Britain next year, I look forward to hearing them in person.
