You'll find a bit of information about this record on Cross Rhythms articles on the pioneering MGO/Key Records set up and I believe the "Meadows" who penned "Nobody Like" is the Pete Meadows who was then instrumental in the development of Buzz magazine and Spring Harvest. The song itself simply tells the world that there's nobody like Jesus in a very direct way. "Door" has Shadows-like guitar lines and a call and response vocal. With the message about knocking at the door, it sounds like a set closer to me. I can just picture it hitting a crescendo in a basement coffee bar somewhere and then the band's evangelist steps forward to share the Gospel. In this case it was David Winter who ended up heading up the religious broadcasting at the BBC. Geoff Shearn, the Envoys' singer, ended up in charge of Pilgrim Records. The roots of a lot of what happened in seventies Christian music can be found in this humble, crudely produced single. To modern ears "Nobody Like" will sound unsophisticated and even musically limited but it still retains a certain beat group charm.
