Barbershop harmony, the real acapella deal by four dear chaps who’ve only just come to Cross Rhythms’ attention even though they were formed 25 years ago by members of Guildford’s famed Millmead Baptist Church. The harmonies of these bow-tied veterans are faultless and though their imitations of brass instruments on “My Evaline” aren’t in the Mills Brothers class, they’re still fun. Material is largely ancient and secular though their version of the Beatles’ “When I’m 64” raises a smile and their songs of faith “Behold I Show You A Mystery” and “Jericho Road” are beautifully done. If you’ve been looking for a different Christian music sound, check out these harmonizing veterans.
