Newport-based the Tim Crahart Blues Band's debut album deliberately flies in the face of what blues music usually stands for and sings about. Radically impacted by Jesus and weaving his experience of his daily walk with God, Tim has written some excellent, uplifting blues tunes. Our man is no stranger to the music scene being formerly a member of Tin Pan Alley. So it is no surprise that musical excellence shines through on this recording. When I first heard this album I thought that it must have been recorded in the USA, the home of the blues, but I was pleasantly surprised to see it was in fact recorded at Red Rock Studios in the South Wales Valleys. The album contains 14 tracks, all expertly crafted and containing all the guts and grit of truly good blues. Traditional blues numbers such as "I Want Jesus To Walk With Me" and "You Got To Move" sit comfortably alongside original material such as the toe-tapping "Shaky Ground Blues" and "Devil's Fool No More" which contains an awesome steel guitar! If you are into blues music, you will want to give the Tim Crahart Blues Band a try.
