Barefoot in a Rich Mullins/Eli fashion, Todd Agnew is establishing himself in a down to earth cool way. He has been creating a bit of a stir in Memphis where he leads worship at a new church plant. 'Grace Like Rain' is his debut album and introduces his rootsy style and rich voice to the scene. However, this set of songs is more of an artist project than a worship album. Certainly there are moments where this is worshipful and others where it reflects different aspects of Todd's own spiritual journey. With a rich throaty voice somewhere between Mac Powell and Eli, there's plenty of passion here and Todd knows how to write engaging songs. Ultimately, the downside is that this sounds too much like too many other albums out there and there isn't enough that's distinctive to pull me totally in. Good but not amazing.

I have this debut cd by newcomer of today's ccm; not a bad release. Todd does have nice rich vocals for the songs he sings; if you listen to the music, you would almost think you were about to hear Scott Stapp singing:same style as the pop group Creed.
I really like "This Fragile Breathe"; the female bgv's for "YOU Are" are amazing; I love the song; it is great for ccm listeners."Lay it Down" is another favorite.
"Only One Thing" is another song worth mentioning.
The cd lists 12 songs on back cover, but there are actually 2 additional songs after "Wait for YOUR Rain".
There is a more hyped version of cd title song "Grace Like Rain" which I love; based on the old hymn "Amazing Grace" & another old hymn "SAVIOUR
Like A Shepherd Lead Us" (the vocals are great, but I have a problem with the music; I feel it does not suite the old classic hymn properly). I like the fact that Todd thanks the late Dana Key in liner notes.
Another old hymn has been retitled, instead of "I Will Arise & Go To JESUS", it has the title "Come Ye Sinners"; not a bad rendition. Welcome aboard Todd!
GOD Bless! -Don

I personally thought his music was amazing! I watched him in concert and you can tell he truly loves the Lord with all his heart. He shared his testimonies with us, and even stopped singing, and told us its not about his music but JESUS CHRIST. I love his music!
