This is a debut EP from a gigging five piece from Gloucester, aimed as a souvenir of a (probably) great night out. There's enough here to suggest that if you like your rock a little on the heavy side, and your drummer worked hard, you'll be interested in U-Turn. The songs are fairly well put together, perhaps a little predictable in places, but this is a learning curve. The production leaves a little to be desired, especially in terms of balance, but that is easily solved. It's also a little flat, despite the obvious energy and vitality of the band. "Wake Up" is a good opener. The jazz funk of "Sticks And Stones" works quite well, but the band are more at home in the rockier passages. Grittier vocals would work better on "Sink Or Swim". Some great boomy bass on "Reflection". I like the vocal on the ballad, "The Cross" -  an ethereal voice, but watch the tuning. Interesting version of "Father God" too, which is not such a very "old song", being written in 1984, in living memory of some of us old folk!
