First, a confession. My wide musical tastes have never yet knowingly taken in Southern gospel. The names of singers on this CD meant nothing to me though I'm reliably informed that Gold City, Greater Vision, Brian Free & Assurance and the Nelons are some of the biggest names in SG. I go by what I hear - and I like it. It's easy listening music, undemanding, chocolatey voices, excellent diction, and high quality production. You get a selection of hymns (including "Amazing Grace", naturally!) sung in Southern Baptist style by variously grouped quartets of male singers. The blend of voices and the harmonies are very pleasant indeed. If you like Southern gospel, or can't resist another version of "Amazing Grace", add it to your collection.
