From the beginning, when Adam knocked his first set of coconut husks together to form the first rhythm section 1-1 to when Elvis fell down a mountain to invent rock and roll, music has always been a vital form of self-expression. It has been my duty to review a Christian album where this self expression has been translated onto strains that is Alternative Rock. The album conies in the "your mother wouldn't like it" category, but this album is ideal for those who like their rock fast and their roll spinning out of control. "Fishes And Loaves' is an album that leads you to believe that there is plenty of scrap metal being thrown around the recording Studio these days, but when it comes in the shape of music with a message then it can be quite pleasing to the ear. A sampler from America's small Kingdom Records this offers a wide variety of acts, most of which will never win the opportunity to give up their day jobs. This album is an album of contrasts from the down right enthusiastic, to the loud and fast music of which is more common in the thrash hit parade of secular groups. Having given you a taste of what this album's all about, as with any compilation along with the good stuff there is always the dreadful, and 'Fishes And Loaves' is no exception. The talent just about outweighs the poor, those to which my ears linglc include Blood And Fire. Covenant. Thyaraia and Red Line. The remaining tracks were not typically music to which I would feel comfortable listening to for long periods of lime. However, this album is on the whole a fairly decent sample of the cross section that is metal though with quite a lot of alternative. grunge and even one or two pop tracks.
