From the Gaither stable comes another powerful and talented tenor like many of his predecessors having worked with the Gaither Vocal Band. With a choir of 20, a slew of musicians and the pick of popular songs this is a well resourced album. In some areas it goes beyond what might be expected of Southern gospel and ventures into CCM territory. There are big electric guitars introducing "One Day" and underpinning the heartfelt "A Man Like Me". Taking this song as the album title is not Wes being egotistical; rather it is referencing the self deprecating song which talks about human shortcomings that only Jesus can overcome. I liked the soulful piano feel to "If Sunday Had Not Come" and "Because Of Love", the latter track with a melodic pop feel perhaps akin to Lionel Ritchie (an acknowledged influence of songwriter Aaron Rice, who comes with an award-winning pedigree for contributions to several Toby Mac songs). Vocal ability comes through loud and clear in Moffitt and Cottrell's "Jesus Saves" underlined by the swell of the backing choir. The CD closes with the classic hymn "It Is Well With My Soul", lifted above being just another example of sweet virtuosic vibrato by having John Catchings on cello and Wes duetting with the CCM crooner Steve Green.
