Comment: Well this brings me back! I’m a 61-year-old crusty now but back in 1974 Pauline worked for my mum part-time in a town called Bishop Stortford. She spotted some of my LPs, saw that I had half decent musical tastes, and suggested I come along to her next gig… at the Triad Centre, a small local music venue. I did turn up (with some trepidation as it was my first ever concert), saw Pauline do a brilliant set, and if I remember rightly the top of the bill that night was Chris Farlowe, who somehow got everyone spontaneously dancing as if by magic. Pauline obviously knew a lot of heads on the music scene because she introduced me to a small group of friends, one of whom was Nick Mason of Pink Floyd. I wasn’t particularly impressed at the time, being only about 15 and not a huge Pink Floyd fan (!) I think it must’ve been shortly after the release of dark side of the moon. I didn’t see much of Pauline after that because she left my mum’s employment shortly afterwards, but I’ve still got the vinyl LP (Narnia) which still stands the test of time today as a collection of great songs.
