I just want to say that in The Caucasus, where i was bought up its one of the national customs to kidnap a young lady, with her consent, in order to marry her. this custom is practiced mainly by poor families who can not afford wedding rites. And, by the way, its not necessary for woman to convert to marry Muslim man. Muslim man can freely marry Cristian girl, Islam permits it. And concerning convertions i can say that many people do not understand Islam 'cause they see it from aside, if one lives amongst Muslims for a long time, of course if the person is open minded, he will see beauty of Islam. Ask Yourself how many of you ever interested in Islam deeply, all your knowledge of final religion of God is based on Mass Media reports. TV is your father, mother, sister, adviser, attorney. Go out to street, meet a Sheikh in nearest mosque and ask him about Islam. May Allah lead us all to right path. Amin

To Mercy: There's no copy of the Quran that deals "comprehensively" with Holy War! In fact, there's nothing that's called Holy War in Islam and the translation of Jihad into Holy War is only a Western fabrication that is based only on the Christian heritage of the crusades. Jihad means STRUGGLE, not war, let alone a holy one. War is obligatory for Muslims only in the cases of self-defense. Jihad (struggle) can take many forms for Muslims, most importantly the struggle against temptation and sin. Moreover, the word "holy" in itself is a foreign concept to Islam.

I think this is disgusting how these people get away with kidnapping these youg girls and getting away with it, who gives them the right to take away there freedom and the right to choose, for them selfs, regardless of religion, kidnap is an offense these men shud be sent to prison, and infact are sick, cruel people, to want to convert them these girl by using physical and mental abuse to convert them!! people turning a blind eye to this just makes me sick to the stomach!! they have no RIGHT to do this, they are woman, they have there own rights as individuals.

To G. R. Scharoubim: it is really so unoriginal that you use these revisionist tactics to tell us silly stories that obviously are farthest away form the truth. The Life of The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is well documented and does not need your uneducated input. See a respectable source like PBS: http://www.pbs.org/muhammad/timeline_flash.shtml

Hello Dinah. As a Muslim, born and bred in Egypt, I have known many a case of a Christian woman seeking and being denied divorce by the Church. Example: wife of Coptic priest, who converted to Islam, filed a police report ascertaining her free will, to escape the tyranny of her husband, only to be met with Christian fanatic riots and false allegations of kidnapping and forced conversion. Fanatics and discriminators exist on the side of Christians just as much or even more as they do on the side of Muslims. This website is a prime example.

As a Christian Egyptian born in the U.S. I have learned about & experienced discrimination and the pressure to convert by many Muslims. I disagree with Maseer who states that, "These women choose conversation as a logical way out." Because many Christian Egyptians are educated & don't need A LOGICAL WAY OUT. However, in defense of many Muslims, there are many Islamic people who accept Christians for who they are and many Christians who accept Muslims for who they are, and are able to get a long as proud Egyptians living together. The few fanatics ruin it for the way all Muslims are perceived.

Thuggary and gangstership are not new to Islam. Actually Muhammad himself started his wars against Qureish as a highway jacker. A land Pirate. His forte' was selecting some captives for his own pleasure. What do you expect of his followers ??? He was full of hate and anger against his own half-uncles. He was destitute poor and they were filthy wealthy. That is why he was full of hate towards them. Even his half-uncle Al-Abbas who helped him conclude a pact with the people of Yathreb was a userer and a miser; this is why Muhammad had a grudge against him too.

In fact, as a human being, I feel sorry for these girls but, let me ask some questions : Are the muslims ,with the sever attack against them , have nothing to do in Egypt but kidnapping christian girls and forcing them to convert to Islam?... Are muslims in Egypt a minority that works to get more followers? ... If prophet Mohamed (PBUH)had been really as you desribed him, he would have demolished everything about Christianity in Egypt and left no sign to it

it is up to us to pray for these young women. On the other hand what are we, as a family, doing allowing our family in Egypt to become so poor that young women feel a need to marry into Muslim families to escape their lives? Father forgive us that we don`t care enough about all the members of His body.
