Pamela,
I hope that your father has found this web page.
What an encouraging testament to the lives that God has allowed him to touch. Thank you for sharing him. I was 5 years old when Danny Taylor and his band performed at Joy Fellowship in Hays, Ks. We were listening to the album tonight, my mom and husband and I commented that Danny was certainly annointed of
God to minister through music, especially since it made such an impact on a little 5 year old girl. There was one song, in particular that everyone was instructed to pull out their keys and "jingle" during the song, do you remember, I can't quite recall, that was about 30 years ago. I too was a Pamela that your father wrote and sang about, but thank the Lord, our Redeemer lives! Please pass along blessings and thanks to your family. You continue to enrich our lives. One more thought, as I was listening tonight I thought, "I bet God really enjoys hearing Danny Taylor's music. " God bless and keep you.

Great to read comments about Danny, his music, and his family. I am writing a lesson for Faith Cafe and several of his songs came to mind. I had trouble finding much info online about him, but this was nice to see.

Pamela,
Thanks so much for sharing information regarding you dad. We have prayed for him and your mom and for you and all your family over the years. We've been trying to locate Danny for a long time but without success. I just received a lead a couple days ago from Scott Ross, and just discovered this web site from Bev's brother-in-law who has also been looking for Danny. He will remember us from Westerlo, NY, and Gardner, MA (His House)in the early 70's. We even were privileged to stay in your home once.
Danny might be interested in knowing that we've been able to remain active in ministry now for over 40 years thanks to the 'pretty amazing grace' of God. We've been privileged to serve the Lord here in NY, MA, CT, PA, and VT, as well as overseas in Puerto Rico, Thailand, India and View Nam. It's been a good ride!! PTL.
We our family we still have most of Danny's recordings. I have most of his double album on tape which I still enjoy listening to in the car. I've never tired of hearing it again and again and ...:-)
Pam, PTL for his grace manifested in and through you all through good times and in tough times! Our prayers remain with you all!
Blessings,
Doug and Bev

I as a kid grew up listening to "I'm Not A One Man Show," I recently found the album on ebay & bought it. What a flood of memories. I am the General Manager of a Classic Christian Rock station here in Topeka & we play a few tracks from that album, check us out www.UpperRoomRadio.com.
Pam, I would love to interview your dad on the radio.

Danny Taylor came to Temple City Naz. in the early 1970's when I was about eight or nine and we bought his album. Played it and played it. I remember thinking of him as a Christian version of Dylan.
I became a youth pastor and now I am a senior pastor and there have been several times I've quoted from either "Pamela" (which still makes me misty eyed...even though I haven't heard an audio version of it in almost twenty years)...and the song that I think was called "New Wine"..."Drinking the new wine made from the sunshine, its sweeter in due time...the good loving Lord is loving you. He's loving me and you he's loving you."
In that song...he spoke: 'Each one of our lives is like a taste of sweet wine to God. It is something that is very cherished..."
I never forgot that...I pray that he is well and that is fully aware that is touring days were a fruitful ministry.
God Bless.
P.S. If anyone can tell me how to get his music please let me know...I would be very grateful.

Thank you, Pamela! I first posted here in June '06 and periodically check back to see if anyone's located Danny Taylor. So glad you found this place to respond to all of us who still love your dad's music. This just makes my day!

Hi,
I remember some of the lyrics from "Pamela" and need some help with correcting any mistakes. If someone has them could I get a copy? Here is what I have so far:
Pamela runs with her back to the wind, searching for truth and a means to an end, Crying aloud at a neighbours back door. Pamelas' running away Pamelas' running away Pamelas' running away. Lord knows how long she will stay.
Pamela runs with her eyes to the east, expecting the most but receiving the least____________________ Pamelas' running away Pamelas' running away Pamelas' running away. Lord knows how long she will stay.
Pamela runs to the foot of the cross and finally admits that she's hoplessly lost, she cries for the years she spent all along, she's singing to Jesus, she's singin to Jesus, she's singing to Jesus, sher's finally come home. Pamela's learning to pray, Pamelas learning to pray, Pamela's learning to pray Lord knows she's home now to stay.

Gary, I have the songbook called Danny Taylor Sing's. The lyrics you are looking for are: Pamela runs with her eyes to the east. Wanting the most but receiving the least. Knowing there's more than the fight to exist. She runs to and fro for the way she has missed. Pamela's running away.Just found this web site so I'm sorry it took so long to get this info to you. I was a big fan of Danny Taylor back in the 70's when I was in the military overseas. Came to know about him through missionaries. Hope this helps you out. God Bless

Thanks Pamela, I have sung your song many times and think it is about time to bring it out and teach our church band how to do it.
Pass on our greetings to your Dad and tell him if he wants to come to Africa for a safari we'd be glad to help him out any way we can.
I use to go to Freeville N.Y. to the "Love Inn" to listen to Danny. I was a student then at Elim Bible Inst.

Pamela thanks for your comments. i have wondered many times about who Pamela was. Your fathers songs meant a lot to me as a teenager in va beach. Encourage him to reproduce his music, perhaps a danny taylor website. I hope your dad is still close to the Lord, he's one of the reasons i am

Hi everyone, my name is Pamela (Taylor) Gardner. I am Danny Taylor's daughter. First I want to say that my father is alive and well, and living in Louisiana. It blesses me to see the things everyone has written about my father. I grew up on the road with my dad and mom, brothers and sister, and have great memories of the ministry and music that has touched the hearts and lives of many people. It's amazing to me how the music can affect you, and the memories that come flooding back when you hear the words and lyrics of a man singing about his faith in God. In dad's double album: Danny Taylor Live and Band, he wrote the song Pamela, which is my song where he talked about Pamela's running away and Pamela did run away, but as the the song says she came back and she learned how to pray. (Which also shows how important words can be that parents speak over their children) Finally I'd like to say thank you and may God richly bless each and every one of you.

Pamela,
My name is Larry Bitterman and in the early 70's I was in a Christian band out of Nyack, NY, called Water Into Wine. We had the privilege of playing some concerts on the same bill as your Dad. Danny had a very profound influence on me then that continues even to this day. He once said he had a goal of writing the perfect simple song to communicate the gospel and glorify the Lord. I am still pursuing that same goal. Your Dad was a constant source of encouragement & inspiration to me. I would dearly love to get in touch with him if at all possible. I have sung the song "Pamela" myself & it continues to be one of my favorites. May you & Danny be richly blessed of the Lord in all you do!

Hi Pamela, I couldn't sleep and when that happens I go to the computer. I thought of your father and googled his name. I have done that in the past and not found anything. I used to live in New Jersey and met your father through Rev. Paul Moore who started a coffee house ministry in New Milford in a little Nazarene chuch that I became invoved in in 1970. I was in the Maranatha band there.Your dad would come and sing and he was such a blessing to all. I got drafted in the spring of 1871 and lost touch with him. He was a personal encouragement in my music ministry. We used to love hearing him sing Deadeye and Pamela, and I also liked Good Morning Jim and Today the Sun Shone Through the Treetops. I couldn't believe it when I just read your post, that he has a daughter Pamela!Taylor Made was the first or second "contemporary" Christian album I ever heard. I would love to see him or contact him.

Hi Pam
Back in the 60's when I was a teenager, I used to listen to your father's sing his songs (Live) at Maranatha Coffee House-Church of the Nazarene, in New Milford NJ. His music definately made a tremedous impact on my life.
I also visited Love-Inn (Freeville NY) a few times, along with friends of mine from Maranatha.
The last time I saw all of you, was when I lived in Nashville TN. You, Danny, Matthew and Amanda were children back then. Not able to find a job in my profession (dental technician), I moved back to NJ.
And lost touch with your parents.
Since then, I often wondered how all of you are doing. I happened upon this website when I typed
a morning DJ's name into the search engine.
I'm glad that I found this. I hope that you will respond.
I'm glad to read that your dad is alive and well and living in Louisiana. I'm also glad to read that you are in Hawaii. How is everyone else doing?
Blessings,
Lisa Van Clief

Pamela, I hope this gets to you. I do a classic Jesus Music show on syndicated radio as well as at the ITUNES store...and I have featured your dad from time to time. Although I have most of his LPs, I'd love to get mp3s of his old music, interview him, whatever...he was a great pioneer of early Jesus Music. If you'd like call me at 615 491-5448...I'd love to do justice to the memories.

Pamela,
I have been thinking about Danny Taylor's songs, and I googled his name, and found this link. Praise the Lord! I'm glad your father is doing well. Back in 1973 or 1974 I attended 4th of July "revival" services at Elim Bible Institute near Rochester, NY, and your father spoke at their "Friday night youth rally" and sang several songs from his albums. I have an album of his, offhand I don't remember the title of it, although I think it is "Live at Carnegie Hall", don't hold me to it. I see several people replying to the comment indicated they would like MP3's or albums. If I can acquire a "record player" to copy vinyl albums to MP3, I could make it available - with your permission, of course.

Pamela thank you for the update about your father, We loved his music & listened to him a lot. We have been looking for any thing on him for years I stumbled across this web site to night by accident. Hope he is doing well would so much like to hear from him, He influenced apparently many of us in the early years of our walk with Jesus, I now play in a Christian Blues/Rock band we minister in prisons, & youth detention centers we are called 10th Leper. About a year ago I had his song "Snatchin" on my heart thought about a redo but wasn't sure about doing that with out permission. But anyway thanks a lot we do remember your song and I always felt like it was about some one close to him so we lifted up prayers to our Father for you. What a blessing to hear from you and about your father Danny tell him we miss him a lot.

Hi Pete, I was blown away when I saw your post referring to Lillian and Bill Parker. My parents and I knew them very well back in the 70's & 80's. We all attended Maranatha Church of the Nazarene and were members for 11+ years. I was at the concert on March 28, 1978 when Danny Taylor sang at the coffee house. I recorded that performance and just found it and listened to it for the first time in 20+ years yesterday. That was such an uplifting night. An old english minister, Rev. Albert Lown spoke that night also. I was hoping there would be something posted on You Tube about Danny Taylor. I am so happy to hear that he is well. Please tell Lillian and Bill hello from Connie & Brad Jenkins and Joanne Hynes. Thanks and God Bless.

Dear Pam, when you talk to your dad,ask him if he remembers Bill and Lillian Parker from Maranatha church of the Nazarene in New Milford NJ. If so ,they are alive and well and still tell good stories about your dad,his ministry and music.Just today they were showing me some interviews in a mag from 1972. I said i would google Danny Taylor and ended up here. They will be so excited to read some of these testimonies about your dad! The Lord bless you real good. Pete Demarest

The opinions expressed in the Reader Comments are not necessarily those held by Cross Rhythms.

I once had a few Cassette tapes by Danny Taylor, which I have since lost. One song in particular I really liked had "Snatchin' All The Children From The Pits Of Hell" as part of the lyrics. Is there any way I can get a hold of this song? GOD Bless!
