Kim Walker-Smith: Jesus Culture Music's prophetic voice

Tony Cummings spoke to Jesus Culture's KIM WALKER-SMITH about her 'On My Side' album

Continued from page 1

Kim: No. The only song that had been sung before a congregation multiple times was "Fresh Outpouring". I was so excited when that one was written that I wanted to do it right away. The next week I was doing it at our conference in Los Angeles last summer. It took off. People responded really well to it, and I started doing it at church. I did "Undone" at a ladies' conference in Colorado. I was a speaker but I did a session of worship. The conference was actually called Undone. The ladies loved it. "When will this song be on an album?" I said, "Soon!"

Tony: How much of your time is spent out of music but administrating at Jesus Culture Music?

Kim: I just recently stepped down. I'm about to have baby number three - a little girl in June - so I decided to step down. I've always had regular work days, and I love that. I love the organisation and the business side of things; I worked as a banker before I was full-time in music. With a third kid coming, I don't know what's going to happen to my life. When I'm not writing, not leading worship, I'm home with my kids, sorting out life with them.

Tony: Has someone taken your admin duties?

Kim: Yes. Actually, Jeremy Edwardson. I hired him to work for me a while back, helping me to manage the label, and I handed it off to him. He's worked with us so many years, he knows us so well - a really incredible friend. He understands our core values and what's most important to us. He's done an excellent job stepping in and taking over.

Tony: Do you think "On My Side" will be the next one of your songs to go around the world?

Kim: It is so tough to say. For me, that one or "Fresh Outpouring". "Fresh Outpouring" is the cry of so many churches, so many people - not just for our church but for our homes and our families. Both of those - one resonates in a deep place in our hearts, the other in the corporate cries of our hearts. So either one of those. CR

May I say that this Kim Walker-Smith is a powerful worship leader and songstress that ministers to the deep recesses of the heart and soul of how the true walk of faith can be through valleys and mountains. I believe she has been under-rated. This CD is and has been a masterpiece of trial and faith un-diminished. It shines through in the words and emotions as she sings and bares her soul and heart to those of whom she ministers. This CD has by far ministered to me this entire year to help me process my pain and struggles like no other causing my faith to be strengthened and renewed. I love this CD and Kim Walker Smith. So glad I had the opportunity to go see her this year!
She taught me how to accept my "Brave Surrender" I will never forget the strength and power of which she ministered this message into my life. All I can humbly say is Thank you God for sharing her with us all and helping her process through this trial then share it with us!!

Kim and Jesus Culture, have continued to turn out one great sing after another. I don't think there is a group in any genre that can compare to the volume of quality and talent over a 20 year period. They are a powerful group or alone. This is the most anointed and passionate band
Truly God put them together
