Amy Lee speaks about "the Christian thing"

CONTROVERSY around mainstream band Evanescence and their brief association with the Christian music industry was touched on in US trade magazine Billboard for 16th September when Amy Lee was asked if she considered Evanescence a Christian band. She responded, "Can we please skip the Christian thing? I'm so over it. It's the lamest thing. I fought that from the beginning; I never wanted to be associated with it. It was a Ben thing. It's over. It's a new day." CR

I don't think that she is denying God. I think that she is just trying not to push her religious beliefs on anyone else. She doesn't want to prevent other people from listening to their music because of the Christian label being put on them.

Jesus said if you deny me before men, I will deny you before my Father.

We were created with free will and can choose if we want Heaven or Hell. It's all about who we choose to love. The one who loves us, or the one who uses us.

Not everyone wants to preach to the choir.

actually amy is my all time favorite singer. she is really a good performer. i like also her idea not to open or to connect to a religious issue. i like the lyrics of her song though almost all her background are dark, it must be her favorite color or theme. maybe she communicate w/ God secretly. not in public...just to be recognized by her supporter. go on life is short.. live it the fullest..god bless

When I listen to a lot of her music It goes back to god every time, I think she don't want people to know. Because if everyone knew she was singing bout god the non god people would not listen to her music you have to get the message out some how. Sometime god does these this to get those who are not into god to listen. Sorry if my grammar is not perfect.

I agree with Andrew: grab a grammar book, simmer down, and critically think for a half a second. I'm born again, but some of the things people are saying in here is embarrassing.
You are speculating on a celebrity about her walk with God off of something she might have said about four years ago? Really? She obviously doesn't talk about it and didn't want her band to be associated with that, but who knows why? I don't know if she prays behind closed doors or where she is with God. Neither do you. So please, for the sake of the Church, BE QUIET. Say "That's between her and God," and walk away.

I just believe that for some people its a comfort thing to know a band or singer you like, you get behind shares the same morals and faith that you do. Takes your love for that band to another level.

Dude. Read a book.

Preferably a grammar book. Then follow that up with intelligent commentaries from both sides of the God debate, before you presume to post about it on the internet.

All you are is a guy with an internet connection. And that doesn't add to the debate now, does it?

Some goes for all you Christian posters out there who think the mere expression of your opinion somehow convinces people to believe you.

Seriously. Please just stop talking.

I agree with the person who posted themselves as someone lol... I think when she said the christian thing, I think she meant the genre of music because honestly if you look in her albums when the band is saying thanks to people, she always gives thanks to God. That prooves right there that she is a christian. If anyone has her albums just look under the thanks part. I am not sure if she says thanks every time, but I know its at least once or twice in the cd designs. And the thing is just because she is not singing christian music doesn't mean she is not a christian, it just means that she went for a different genre.

Who cares, i'm a christan but her choice is not mine. I love bring me to life and being a christan i take it as her singing to god not a guy. Besides her not being a christan does not bother me I still love her music. Maybe she is a christan and maybe shes not, but all us christans can hope for is that in the end god will bring her to life.
