Country singer Josh Turner goes gold with 'Long Black Train' album.

MAINSTREAM country music artist and committed Christian Josh Turner spoke about his major American hit single and album, both called "Long Black Train", in Billboard magazine. Turner's album has become the only debut release of 2003 to win a gold album. The song "Long Black Train" features a rousing chorus "There's victory in the Lord." Said Turner, "I knew from an industry standpoint it was a risk, but it was worth it to me because it did say who I was, and it's a country song. It's got a great message that anybody can relate to and it's just something that sticks in your head. Everybody has their own long black train that they struggle with and everybody can take those words and put them into their own lives. Radio has finally come around and all the listeners have definitely taken hold of it." Turner wrote "Long Black Train" in 1999 while he was attending Nashville's Belmont University. "I was over at the music library one night listening to the complete Hank Williams boxed set and it really made me feel like I was in the same room with him." CR
