I'm glad that God never said that ministry wasn't, at times, supposed to be fun, or we'd never enjoy CDs like this SO much! And whatever you think of the urban style of worship, these guys from Orlando, Florida are in ministry with a heart to see souls saved. MCs 2Edge and Proverb do a lyrically fantastic job of bringing a story to the tunes, giving candid testimonies which are delivered with confidence in the experienced style that has been earned by their time in the field (and often the street corners where rappers battle to sharpen their gift). The tone of the rapping is harmonic and full of twisting sounds which slay all the band's peers by the sheer passion employed to deliver their words of wisdom. The arrangement of the music on this CD is mature, and follows all the good musical rules. Listen out for the progressive percussion from DJ Morphiziz which has breaks and curves in all the right places. He sets up the rappers perfectly to do their thing and adds unusual samples to the band's work. You should find a mixture of tracks to suit all your hip-hop tastes on this album as there is hefty orchestral lifters, euphoric keyboard/piano licks, simplistic baseliners, enchanting chorals and even a sprinkle of '70s house music to make you smile. Note the Spanish guitar-style "nod" on track 11, and the Motown trumpet-led genius of track 12 - which features Aimee Fahnestock. It's top quality urban through and through.
