Those who are following US CCM will know that 7seventh Avenue Down from Mount Vernon, Kentucky are doing well. This, their fourth studio album, is well up to standard as it explores the themes of hope, confidence and redemption. All three subjects are addressed in the excellent "The 99", hinting at the parable of the lost sheep, leaving the 99 to 'lead me home'. Entering a new start is explored in the title track with no more standing in 'quicksand'. There is even a nod to the Gaither classic "There's Something About That Name" on "Let Me Tell You"! Production here is top drawer as the reins are held by Ron Feemster (Mary J Blige), Ian Eskelin (Francesca Battistelli) and Colby Wedgeworth (Tauren Wells). The combination of these top producers, clever song writing and variety in style result in an challenging, engaging and foot tapping listen. Albums such as this may not impress the hipster elite, but no one can deny that the song-writing, production and vocal performances caught here are of the highest standard.
