18 years on, at least 15 albums, seemingly countless personnel changes and now a 17-song 'Best Of' collection. There is no denying that this is sheer musical excellence without an instrument in sight (in case there was any doubt!). Styles range from spirituals and hymns to doo-wop. Lyrically there are many uplifting songs and one morning I found myself comforted and encouraged by "Hush", with its "God is standing by, so hush, don't you worry, don't you cry" refrain. The songs are essentially the message of the gospel set to music and this is actually very refreshing. The only downside with this album is that eventually the songs and sounds blend into one and the lack of variety begins to wear thin. Unless you love the acappella style this album will be for brief admiration only.
