It was about six years ago that Alan's previous gospel album 'Precious Memories' came out. It remains one of my favourite and most played gospel albums, so I was over the moon when this appeared. I am pleased to report that the second volume it is every bit as good as its predecessor. Featuring 11 familiar hymns, beginning with "Amazing Grace", you immediately feel Alan has managed to breathe new life into such well loved pieces, thanks in no small measure to his powerful vocals and stripped down accompaniments on piano and guitar. Other powerful tracks "O How I Love Jesus", "Only Trust Him" and the closer "Where He Leads I'll Go" is truly moving. My guess is that these tracks were unreleased recordings from the previous gospel sessions. Over the years I have heard many of these gospel classics recorded in a variety of styles, but I submit you will be hard pressed to find many better interpretations proving that you don't need massive choirs and orchestras to produce gospel hymnody.

An absolute breath of fresh air, Alan brings back time honoured classics and breathes a fresh new breath to timeless hymns and songs. He certainly brings back the great Old Time sound and preserves the great Gospel hits and the most momentous track on this album has got to be Sweet Hour of Prayer and restores the great to tapping When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder. *****. Patiently waiting for a III **********
