The country, bluegrass and folk team are no strangers to concept albums having produced several Christmas releases amongst others. Here they turn their attention to illuminating a child's world to aspects of Scripture. The concept was the idea of band founder (and part songwriter) Robin Wolaver as an antidote to the messages of modern media. The first volume on this two-CD package offers "joyful" songs and volume two "peaceful" (for bedtime) numbers. There are also books planned to accompany the music. On the peaceful collection there are children group vocals and instruments such as flutes more in evidence. Lyrically, the emphasis is on simplicity which, given the intended young age of its audience, is important. The songs (10 on each album) each average around two minutes in length while the arrangements and musicianship are what you would expect from a band of this calibre. However, despite the inclusion of child voices on songs such as "In The Beginning" and "It Is Impossible", there are more 'child friendly' collections out there and I would suggest that this collection has limited appeal.
