Ascension, a mixture of rhythm, rhyme and talent. This Irish group unashamedly Bible bash their way through a complex range of music. If you like your rock with a hint subtlety or a rhythmic base line thumping behind intelligent lyrics then this album is well worth a try. I have not listened to the Gospel preached in such a fresh and dynamic way since the heady days of Petra's 'Beat The System". The industrious lead guitar is full without being overwhelming and coupled with the excellent lead singing of Michael Chapman make this debut album addictive listening. Ascension are serious about their music and on a meagre budget have produced a professional recording of great worth. Talent never seems to respect financial constraints -'You-Me-Everyone' is an example of that. This debut album will not disgrace the most modest of record collections, buy it and let each Ascension-written track fill your room with the clean ambience of these honest Christian musicians. Cynics may find this record in places a bit simplistic. Don't be put off. Ostensibly this group have a bright future. Long may they continue giving others the same lift they have given me.
