It has been four years since we last received an album of original songs from the highly celebrated singer/songwriter. Audrey now follows her collection of reimagined hymns with this set after a season of searching, therapy, introspection and healing. Assad has created beautiful soundscapes using plenty of mellotron and the occasional drum appearance which match her journal-style writing and allow the listener to feel the vulnerability of her process. There is also an undeniably Irish influence to several of the tracks as a result of her childhood love of the style. "Wounded Healer" is driven by a Celtic-flavoured melody that will have you resonating with the driving chorus. Hip-hop artist Propaganda is featured on the track "River", which explores the justice of God and quotes the famous verse from Amos 5:24, "let justice roll on like a river. . ." The poignant piano ballad "Drawn To You", which wraps up the album, ends with this beautiful confession: "After everything's been said/After everything love cost/Lord, I know this much is true/I'm still drawn to you." 'Evergreen' is reminiscent of the depth that we see in the Psalms as Assad confesses her inner struggles and questions, yet also continues to turn her attention and praise to God. Perfect to listen to on a long drive or in the quiet of your living room, this is an album, and journey, worthy of giving your time and attention to
