At last - music for grown-ups! The first time I heard this album I thought it was great. And it has got better with each subsequent play. The style is big-band jazz, with superb orchestral and big-band arrangements led by a wonderful vocal perfomance from Babbie Mason, who's previously recorded in both R&B and soft pop styles. The lyrics are articulate and entertaining, delivered by someone clearly wanting to glorify God. That lyrical excellence is most apparent on "Simply, I Love You", but there's a great deal of passion as well on tracks like "Black And Blue" (a powerful statement on racism) and the great old spiritual "Wade In The Water". The old standard "He Keeps Me Singing" comes over powerfully, as do the opener, "Play It Again", and "Theme On The 37th", and there's some real soulful singing on "Timeless" and "Trust His Heart".
