Not being too au fait with the sub-genre nerdcore, or indeed whether there is such a thing as gospel nerdcore hip-hop, I restrict my comments to suggesting that Ben Knight is one of the brightest undiscovered talents in Christian rap. With the same kind of nerdy lyrical approach that makes Peabod and Social Club Misfits so enjoyable, Ben, from Indiana, also shows considerable wit as he makes his spiritual points while often producing some laugh out loud moments. The title track refers of course to the Harry Potter series, while the tongue-in-cheek "Kanye Western" gently lampoons hip-hop's most spiritually schizophrenic of stars with some clever couplets. Slowly but surely, Ben is building up a reputation with a stream of independent releases. This four-song EP can only add to his fan base.
