Bernice is a gospel songwriter and vocalist from south of the Thames and a soprano who sounds like she could easily be a soloist from a group competing on a Gospel Choir Of The Year contest. The self-composed "Been Set Free" is a gentle song but with hard-hitting lyrics: "I overcome/By the blood and my testimony." Piano, percussion and hand claps are joined by strings on the second song of this single, "You're My All", which sees co-producer and mixer Emmanuel Waldron displaying his jazz credentials with some beautiful piano reminiscent of Van Morrison, circa "Have I Told You Lately". A song of yearning for God. A tantalising taster which leaves one looking forward to a full album.
