Despite the 'Acoustic' title, this is by no means an album of unplugged best-of hits beloved of so many artists. On the contrary, this CD offers six full band tracks, with acoustic guitar to the fore but not dominant. Hailing from Salisbury, North Carolina, Britt is, of course, a CCM hitmaker and her music has featured in a number of movie soundtracks and TV shows. The songs here inhabit similar territory to a whole raft of contemporary indie pop artistes such as Kelly Clarkson and Avril Lavigne, and this brief selection contains both reworked versions of hits from her previous two albums such as "The Lost Get Found" and "Set The World On Fire" - both of which showcase Britt's husky yet sweet voice perfectly. There's also a new song, "Found By You" which is passionate, hopeful and longing all in one. 'Acoustic' displays a more mature direction for Nicole and moves her away from the teen pop vibe of her album releases and as such is an excellent indication of someone who should be on the Christian music scene for some time to come.
