These new songs (13 fresh compositions, one uninspired new arrangement) have not translated well to a recorded medium. Live they may have been pretty exciting, but on disc the opening track in particular is a confused cacophony of sound and a listener at home is only too aware of how derivative much of the material is. Both Cindy and Israel have interesting musical backgrounds - Cindy with the Southern gospel-turned-pop group Cruse and Israel as an acclaimed blue eyed practioner of black gospel music. But if the songs presented here sound like every other praise and worship leader one has heard, then the songwriting team is still searching for its own distinctive compositional voice.
