This is the first of three volumes inspired by the desire of 1995 Baptist World Congress to include worship songs and styles from around the world. To the credit of the editors, this volume helps us westerners to appreciate the richness and variety of the wider Christian church, and also enjoy a musical and cultural journey from our own pews! Some arrangements are (I assume by the arrangers name) courtesy of a Western pen and so may lose a little of the vibrancy of, say, African feeling. That aside, this is a worthy effort to expose the church to the value of cultural and multicultural worship. The book contains both music and guitar chords. So if you've ever wished that your church would sing a cool tune from Cameroon, a boogie from Bolivia or a bit of rock from Rwanda then bung a copy of World Praise in your church organist's Christmas stocking!
