Desmond has already made quite an impact. He guested on TD Jakes' huge hit "Woman Thou Art Loosed" and R Kelly's "I Believe I Can Fly". On this set, all the bases are covered - sinuous, funky "Wanna Show Love" looks for a Mary Mary-like crossover; "Loyalty" is an inspirational ballad with a moving lyric about how Desmond can't ignore the "unfashionable" Jesus; while "Someone To Trust" is wheezingly soulful. And there are plenty of big names (producers Derek 'DOA' Allen, Percy Bady, Fred Hammond, etc) to ensure that Desmond's rich, flexible baritone can swoop and soar across the rich variety of backing tracks. Clearly it's the slow ballad of faith which is Desmond's forte, so those looking for a classy soul gospel crooner should check out this impressive addition to the growing Tommy Boy Gospel roster.
