The first person I thought of when hearing the opening track (the excellent "Fear Before The Fall") was Seal, with that distinctive smooth vocal and sound. Then came a couple more classy tunes, with the title track really cementing the comparison. What I was hearing was quality, in the vocals, production mix and lyrics. The pop openers took us to some lovely laid back almost softer R&B intros on later tracks such as "Give" and "Dark Hills". Clearly a talented chap, Canada-based Drew has written, played and produced on his own material and for others has played some impressive support act slots with the likes of Starfield and Reuben Morgan. Released on the independent Canadian label Avante, I hope more people get to hear Drew - the quality of this offering deserves it.
