You read about Elevator in our New Zealand scene article in the last issue. They’re well worth checking out. In Julie Vusitoh they have an exceptional singer while the cocoon of ricocheting beats and billowing synth beds are satisfyingly emotive as she glides through poetic yet Christ-centred songs. Traces of Portishead, a hint of trip hop, though all delivered with due reverence for the fully formed pop song, this is a mature album that grows with every play.
