Elohin, out of Detroit, Michigan releases a six-track EP looking at mature subject matter grounded in the rapper's faith. What stands out is strong production and a measured and cultured flow. We launch out with an uplifting break and Elohin's commitment to step up, go "12 rounds" and play the game. The bouncing, positive vibe continues into the equally infectious "Let It Burn" with Christina Benjamin contributing some tasty licks. "My Town", with Ric Flo guesting, confronts head-on the problems of Detroit, a city in debt and with huge social and population problems. The track encourages life back into the hood, "like a heat seeker, street sweeper". "What If" is a powerful question asking a number of 'what ifs' over the vocals of Sarah Balchunas - an inspiring and equally challenging track.
