Described as the future sound of Southern gospel music, Evansville, Indiana-based Ernie Haase & Signature Sound are presently the big thing on that Gaither-dominated scene. Many remember Ernie Haase as the tenor from the very successful The Cathedral Quartet, with whom he sang for 10 years. After the group's retirement in 1999 Ernie Haase went solo for a while and was very successful, but felt that moving in a solo career lacked a sense of 'team spirit' that he desired. A quartet was therefore formed in 2002. The name of the group and its personnel have been moved around a few times but Ernie Haase & Signature Sound seems to be the finished result. This is the group's eighth album and is a recording that really shows them to be full of energy and enthusiasm for what they believe in. This album starts with an up beat "Shout, Brother, Shout", a song that consists of up lifting lyrics combined with a bouncy use of brass instruments that leaves you with a swing sound that really starts you singing. However the guys really show their talent with songs like "Then The Morning Came", a song very different to the first, very soft and slow paced, creating a definite sense of awe whilst focusing on Jesus. A well produced and well rounded example of today's Southern gospel sounds.
