Rebranding himself from Gaz Simmonds to Gareth David for purely typological reasons (and why not), Gareth has released his second short song collection. The Gaz Simmonds EP was a worship project but, as this collection's title proclaims, Gareth now turns to personal concerns for lyrical inspiration. If the tracks don't break much ground stylistically, they are still pleasant to listen to. The highlight of the project has to be the final track "You And I", a comparatively soaring and heartfelt ode which really hints at the latent promise in Gareth's music. However, after the previous four less remarkable tracks, in a way it's a real shame that this comes last, giving a final tease of what a longer collection with more innovation and a sharper focus might sound like! Perhaps not a CD to have on permanent repeat but nonetheless a further indicator that the Chesterfield-born songsmith is developing his craft.

I disagree with the comments above in that the songs before you and i are less remarkable. California is inspirational and reminds me that God likes us to be grateful for what we do have. The other tracks are not far behind. M only gripe is there is no information where we can get his next recordings. I think being at Cliff college makes his music inspirational
