Georges Ellyott, originally from Guadeloupe, has been singing since he was 11, when he made his debut in front of 1,500 people. In the interim, he has won several singing competitions, has worked as a singing teacher and also had a prison ministry. His influences are drawn from reggae, jazz and blues and his honey-coated voice glides pleasantly through each song. The title track (The Colours Of Your Heart) is a fulsome ballad, a prayer asking God to make us more like him. The mysterious sounding “Tou Sa Lanmou” is a Guadeloupan song with French translation (translated in English as So Much Love) - a stripped down ballad with only a bass guitar for accompaniment which works well with George’s voice. On the music front, this is pretty safe stuff, but the respectable production and little musical touches makes it a pleasant listen overall. And you don’t have to speak French to enjoy the experience.
