Every so often an artist comes along who simply blows your mind! Up to a few months ago I had not heard of Gordon Mote who had been making a very successful career as a session musician in Nashville, Following the tragic early death of Bill Gaither's regular pianist Anthony Burger, Bill was looking for another good pianist and came across Mr Mote, or rather Gordon persuaded Bill that he was the one! What Bill had not bargained for was that Gordon Mote was such an outstanding vocalist as well as an incredible pianist, and he is now a featured artist with the Homecoming crowd! Many of the titles on this fantastic DVD are live recordings from Gordon's fabulous album 'Don't Let Me Miss The Glory'. The DVD contains many poignant and moving comments and questions from Bill concerning Gordon's blindness and how he has overcome this handicap in such a positive and humourous way. Bill also relates how Gordon has challenged them all to see disability in a new light! The DVD opens with the well known "The Old Gospel Ship" in which Gordon's virtuoso performance turns it almost into a new song. If I had to pick one favourite from the album, it would be the very moving "Maplewood Methodist Church". Gordon explains why this song means so much to him. His lovely wife Kimberly is introduced towards the end of the DVD together with his mother and his three children. With a running time of 100 minutes, this DVD presents superb value for money and those who can play piano will be amazed by Gordon's dazzling keyboard expertise.
