Grit's seventh album is outstanding. But, before you rush to buy, beware this is a subtly disguised, best-of collection from the last three releases by those "Tennessee Bwoys". 'Seven' is, however, a totally accessible set which isn't a hastily shoved-together mash up, but a well thought out flow of hot material. "Make Room" and "Ooh Ahh" get the remix treatment, comfortably running into the incredible "Where Are You Going", encouraging us to call out to God, who will always answer. The three new tracks are huge, notable "Time To Pray", featuring Lisa Kimmey, dropping a powerful hook over a bouncy bass beat. Of course, everyone's idea of what should be on a best-of differs dramatically, but I was surprised to see "Sippin' Some Tea" and "Get Down" included here and not the stompers "Gutter Boy" and "I Wanna Be With You", both stronger cuts, in my humble opinion. Yet, there's only so much room on an album, so clearly no room for earlier material either. Maybe a 'History Of.' album is needed! Even if you are the most devoted fan already, the new tracks and remixes alone make this worthy of purchase. To those who don't own anything from those masters of dirty south stylings I would advise this as a starting point!
