Ok, I know punk is quick, but 17 minutes for 14 tracks (3 of which seem to be unaccredited samples - tut tut) is something of a disappointment. Hit The Deck from Ventura, California deliver some punchy riffs overlaid with passionately shouted, probing lyrics, but sadly nothing new. I don't want to rip them apart because I imagine that this is a band who excel in live situations, but a debut album should seek to make more impact than this. 'Look Alive' screams out for a creative spark that lifts the band above the rest and distinguishes them as an important hardcore band in their own right. This is not to say there is a lack of talent. The drumming is great and some of the timing changes hint at better things.
