As any follower of contemporary gospel will tell you, James Moss is one of the pioneers in updating the gospel sound both with his contributions as part of the PAJAM production team and his own best-selling releases. Mr Moss wears his heart on his sleeve with his new album. Co-Produced with Paul "pda" Allen, J gives the listener a feeling that they are accompanying the singer/songwriter on a journey of self-discovery and communion with God. Highlights include the upbeat "I Gave It Up" with fervent lyrics "I gave it up and I ain't going back there no more", the commercial R&B groove "No More" and "Just James" with a soulful sound that is very Chris Brown. The album also features the beautiful "Restored" with the recognisably strident backing vocals of Karen Clark-Sheard while Moss calls on his traditional church roots on "Holy One". 'Just James' is an album "...dedicated to the broken and fallen everywhere". It's also an album with sufficient versatility, production know-how and downright soul power to connect with all lovers of contemporary gospel.
