This is well filmed and well recorded but the band to me had about as much stage presence as a headmaster reading out the names from the school register! Live videos can be a very good idea, but whilst Dan Haseltine and his band can make excellent studio recordings they seem to be missing that certain ingredient on stage. A couple of tracks are rockers but Dan on vocals (when not playing some percussion, accordion, drum kit), just cannot enthuse me enough to go and see them in concert. In fact, I don't think he can rock to save his life. It sounds as if I've got it in for them but I just don't see Jars Of Clay, from a visual perspective, as a live act based on this video. Had I been given an audio release, then apart from saying that Dan's voice at times sounded weak, I would have been generally enthusiastic. Video releases are a different genre. Also included is a four-song acoustic set recorded at the same venue but on a different stage. In fact, I'd like to know where it was filmed as you get the feeling that only a couple of hundred turned up! So to end on a sort of positive note, enjoy the music by playing it through your hi-fi, just don't switch the telly on to watch it!
