Jax is a man of many talents. Described as a musician, producer and illustrator, he has created his own cartoon character of his musical persona. Check out his MySpace page for the brightly coloured industrial themed artwork and the shots of the live band. As a Christian rapper from Manchester, comparisons to Thebandwithnoname's Chip K are valid as they have shared some input from Roo Walker, but the quality of production on this eight track release deserve comparisons to Toby Mac. Synth sounds smack you round the face and are then backed up with beats that are like bombs dropping. With superbly funky baselines such as "Get The Gist" and stadium anthemic guitar riffs, for an independent release, the production on this is quality. As a fun upbeat release, this is going to appeal. What fundamentally doesn't work too well however is the rapping which is lacking in timing and accurate dynamic vocal emphasis. The female rapping vocals from Sol on "Some Kind Of Impact" are spot on, but often Jax's timing is either sloppy or just out. A shame.
