A four song demo with some starkly alternating style content gives a hint at the talents of Devon-based five piece Jericho. At one extreme you'd be hard pushed to find a much more in-your-face sound than "Brighter Days" and "God Says" - funk rock in the Red Hot Chilli Peppers meet Jimi Hendrix mode, their sparse guitar (Chris Corderoy), bass (Simon Bray) and drums (Barnaby Suermondt) line up leaving plenty of rawness in the sound. In between times, on "Strength" and "Paris" we see the band heading for the slicker end of the funk spectrum - spacious, reverberating guitar licks and copious use of the wah wah pedal (of course!) underpinning some tasty vocal harmonies from the female contingent, Zoc Aggett and Nicky Bailey. If asked to choose, I'd plump for these two tracks as Jericho's better side. Throughout the tape they're only rarely anything less than tight and despite the inherent limitations of a low budget demo Jericho acquit themselves quite favourably.
