Missing the sweet sounds of country-rock a la Eagles, Souther, Hillman & Furey, Poco and the like? Grieve no more. This is a country-rock album of finesse to equal most of the output from the heyday when those giants of the genre stalked the land. Much of the secret of the smooth sound is in drawing together a posse of top-notch musicians who know this stuff inside out. Notables include Al Perkins (steel guitar), Larry Knetchel (piano) and Dan Dugmore (guitar). Buddy Miller, husband of singer Julie, has gained rave reviews for his exceeding the speed limit guitar playing lately and he weighs in with a more than solid contribution. Nashville's Music Row named Jim Lauderdale 'Breakthrough Songwriter Of The Year', these 15 songs provide the evidence. Outstanding tracks include "Optimistic Messenger", "Nobody's Perfect", "Tears So Strong" and "Please Pardon Me". Even a duet with Emmylou Harris thrown in, to bring the whole brew to near perfection. Solid class.
