Led by pianist Jim Martinez and a bunch of outstandingly tight jazz musicians, there is no doubting the musical pedigree of 'Jazz Praise III' but there are so many other albums just like it that I had hoped for something a little more original. Instead we do get sumptuous musicianship and fresh arrangements and a nice modern jazz sound that could best be described as Oscar Peterson worship! Nothing wrong than that but I do wish these guys had created a set of new songs instead of simply taking the usual suspects - "Blessed Assurance", "Great Is The Lord", "He's Got The Whole World In His Hand" etc, etc and jazzifying them. An excellent musician, Jim has found his own particular niche.
