When Alliance Music originally released this album in 1999 the 'Celtic Hymns' wasn't part of the title. But apparently the 'c' word has been a real big money spinner for the Christian companies and as this album by Joanne Hogg didn't do as well for the Iona singer as the industry was expecting a bit of a repackage was overdue. I'm glad they bothered. The Irish colleen brings all her winning ways to classic hymnody and such gems as "My Song Is Love Unknown", "Oh The Deep Deep Love" and "Rock Of Ages" are breathtaking. As our reviewer said back in 1999, "Dave Bainbridge has his fingerprints all over this" and with Troy Donockly adding haunting uillean pipes and the rest of Iona much in evidence this is a gem - regardless of how you label it.
