The revelation that a couple of those fondly neo-punk rockers the Predators are now in Gilead should not mislead punters looking for music with which to pogo-in-the-Spirit, into sending off their postal orders to Stockport, Words Of Love' is a decidedly straight worship album, and no bad thing in that, with Ms Stanton having a purity of tone and confidence of phrasing that suggests either vocal training or an awesome natural ability. The mood is contemplative with Karen providing her music to a nicely selected series of Scripture passages while the accompaniments, with concert grand dominating, are subdued and largely drum less. The effect becomes a little wearisome over an entire album but on the strength of this tape Karen Stanton and her sterling accompanists have a significant ministry in worshipful music.
