My first thought on seeing the cover of this (ostensibly) children's album was that I wouldn't need to listen to it to form an opinion of the contents. The only thing that prompted me to play it was the credits on the cover - the gospel soul voices of Kim Reids and Carvin Winans were a great draw. They didn't disappoint me. On "Our House' and "I Want To Be Like Him" they displayed all their swooping and ducking potential.  But the ghasMy intro (two teenagers on the phone) seem designed to remove enamel from teeth and the gushing teenagers go on to increase the cringe factor with every appearance.  But then, children's concept albums are an acquired taste.  I gave 'Gospel Buggy' to the kids and they liked some of it. The biggest hit with them was the rap track "Cool" which had them up and dancing while the sample lyrics got the message across. "I'm Saved", another rap came a close second.  It is unusual for songwriters to tackle with bereavement - let alone getting the subject across to kids.  "Only There For A Season" does though, and effectively.  For adults, the cringe-factor on this one is almost unbearable and the understood the lyrics but weren't prepared to sit and listen to it at one go. For myself, I respect the spat in which 'Gospel Buggy' was recorded. And there highlights in both production and in Kim and Carvin's soul power delivery.  But not enough to persuade me (or the kids) to play the album again.

Me and my siblings LOVED this album when we were kids. We still sing the songs now- but sadly misplaced our tape cassette many years ago so its all from memory.
Its a shame we haven't been able to find a copy anywhere- we really want to pass it on to our kids too.
I found some of the tracks on youtube - was an absolute delight, but would love to hear the whole album again :(
