This is the first album from Yorkshire band Les Anon. Their stated aim is to bring glory to God rather than to themselves and to this end the album does not credit any of the musicians and all the royalties and payments for the album go towards orphaned children's charities. Unfortunately good intentions only go so far in making a good album and in some of the more practical aspects 'Light The Fire' is found wanting. The songwriting is not bad but does fall foul of some common faults, including rehashing old ideas and what I would call Christian shorthand, and is also theologically questionable in places. The song arrangements also tend to be a little over complex in places with the Spanish guitar finger picking rhythms clashing with the rhythm guitar on occasion. The tracks would appear to have been recorded at different times, and quite possibly by different musicians, so there is little in the way of continuity. Some of the tracks have almost no bottom end at all, so that the bass and kick drum are pretty much inaudible leaving it sounding very thin, and on others there is audible distortion from the recording being too loud. While the female vocal has nice tone, again the production and lack of experience work against them. While there is plenty of talent here, they need some quality time in a recording studio with the services of a producer to get the best from them.

This album of beautiful ministry songs in parts challenge us in love and does not skate around the edges of certain subjects because the bible doesn't. Throughout it points to Jesus who is the answer to whatever the issue may be. God wants to use us all and He needs to prepare us for that service. You can listen to some of the the songs on facebook, jango or reverbnation. I trust you will be blessed by them as I have also knowing that all proceeds from sales are raising funds for Sow the Seed Children's home in India. Let's hope that these good intentions will go far and thankfully that's in God's hands.

This CD is awesome! What is Tim on about? The guitar playing is better than most other Christian CD's I have heard which makes the songs different. Listen to the beginning of WDYD and see what you think?

So glad you liked the guitar playing. Maybe Tim was having a bad day although we agree about the studio bit but if we went down that root the earlier band member’s contribution would have been lost along with the dynamic liveliness of the early recordings. It was a journey rather than a polished production. We have 750 copies left of this CD and each copy sold will raise £5 to provide food, accommodation and education for a child in India for a week. If all these were sold 14 children would be supported for 1 year rescued from desperate lives that we would find it hard to imagine.

We also will be supporting with our charity concerts Betel in England which helps many people come off drugs and alcohol addiction. Betel is an international Christian charity. The song “Wine” on the CD speaks about alcohol dependency but any addiction could be inserted into the song. It meets the person struggling where they are at which may be deep in a pit and gives hope and new life in Jesus. So you can see all this is bigger than the music although we are grateful God has given us these gifts to share with you.

This review was unnecessarily harsh and incorrect in many parts but we forgive Tim for the potential damage to sales this review may have caused and pray with a thankful heart that these songs will continue to speak to people. We have received many encouraging comments for the CD and the work it supports.

Les Anon (i.e.) Anonymous is a band where musicians are free to come and go and no one takes any credit we just want to see God’s name glorified and His work completed through our lives.

Thank you for your comments I agree this CD tracks were recorded on different machines and by different musicians but it is all in accordance with scripture. As I sit here in India having visited the orphanage, HIV clinic and the slums I pray that this CD will be used to raise funds for these needs. If God wanted a professional CD He would have provided a studio free of charge because all the proceeds are going to the children's work. For me it's all about sharing the love of God and through our music that is our only aim. I have never wrote songs before; God just laid words and melodies on my heart. I hope you enjoy this CD and bless these children by ordering one.

This CD contains 10 original tracks that we have had the privilage to work on to raise funds for orphaned children. We hope to bless many children with all the proceeds that are made from this CD and bless you as you listen to these powerful ministry songs when uploaded. We are looking forward to the review and to selling copies on Cross Rhythms. Love Les Anon
