Detroit's Lisa first came to American gospel's attention as part of the chart-making group Witness who received a number of nominations and awards. Witness were formed by songwriter/producer Michael Brooks, whom Lisa later married. 'Ready', released in 2013, is a very family affair as it features production from son Justin and vocal arrangements from daughter Tara. For those who enjoy Lisa's brand of urban gospel this album delivers. "Wonder" is a delight, with funky horns, a dance beat guaranteed to get feet tapping and vocals which would put many more high profile singers to shame. A bit of jazz also makes an appearance on the title track, although many of the other tracks are pitched more at a traditional gospel listenership. Here there are highlights such as the inspiring "Triumph" but unimaginative songs and arrangements sadly ensure the album loses some of its impact.
