Lynn's a South African working under the multi-national Youth With A Mission, Amsterdam umbrella. The tape's colourful cover indicates the African flavour of the contents and the credits promise the Love Africa Choir and a cluster of African musicians. Let drooling commence! Pretty powerful stuff really, kicking off with "Come Manifest Your Power" which is exactly as you would expect, a rousing battle cry anthem, complete with prayer and scripture. Side 1 continues in well crafted, contemporary songs with punchy performance. Side 2 starts with "Traditional African Medley" featuring the wonderful choir pounding out joyous, invigorating rhythms. "Prayer For Africa" really cranks up the power before everything calms down for the lovely ballad "I Will Bow Down". So, a mixture of styles resulting in an absorbing tape. Now, a full album by that choir, that would really be something special.

Hello, Tony Parsons, you had the office next door to mine at WORD UK - many aeons ago! Well, I read your review of Lynn Swart's album, I will have to buy a copy. the thing is; "Come Manifest Your Power" was written by Tim French and with a little bit of Lynn in the verses. We recorded it on a good demo tape, "Here in Your Presence" after Word and me parted company. It was the summer of 1989. I'm not expecting to retire on the royalties but recognition and a couple of Bucks would do nicely. In the album recording I did the praying thing around the Revelation passage..."His name is written on His thigh, King of Kings and Lord of Lords."
Actually, funny timing...was just thinking of Lynn and our collaborative song writing times and I am about to resurrect the song soon in our church here in British Columbia.

Of course I have the copyright details; dated and sealed and the recording date confirms joint ownership. No problem with Lynn recording it as it wasn't first time and bless you Lynn; if you are ever this way get in touch.

Oops! didn't see the date!

Anyway. good to see it being used

Blessings
Tim French
